Each individual's orthodontic problem is different and deserves personalized attention. Your initial visit is an opportunity for us to get to know you and what you want to accomplish. We pride ourselves in giving individual attention and taking the necessary time to explain our procedures each step of the way. We believe the more the patient and parents are informed, the better the results.
At the initial appointment, we will perform a comprehensive orthodontic examination to determine the status of the patient's orthodontic health. The preliminary examination will result in one of three outcomes:
- The patient is not ready or may not need treatment and is placed on recall to be seen at a later date.
- The orthodontic treatment will be of a limited nature at this time and appointments will be scheduled for construction and fitting of appliances.
- If the problem appears to warrant comprehensive orthodontic therapy, full diagnostic records will be necessary.
Consultation (Conference Appointment)
If diagnostic records are taken, a consultation appointment will be set up - usually three to four weeks later. This is done to allow sufficient time for diagnosis. A complete diagnosis, an outline of the proposed treatment plan, estimation of length of treatment and treatment fee and insurance coverage information will be presented at this time.
